Passenger Complaint 03/28/18 – Carnival Cruise Line BBB Review March 28, 2018: CUSTOMS: Got off Miricle 03/08 was scanned on deck – was immediately taken to customs. Asked if we bought jewelry and we said yes. This information was give to customs on Carnival Letterhead and by Carnival employees, there was a list of people. I realize the fine jewelry is not Carnival but Carnival gets a cut. Was told by several jewelry employees no problem with customs. Contacted Carnival and they denied it as usual – lost a lot of trust that day.
Good morning: Thank you for sharing Mr. *** review with us, regarding his cruise aboard the beautiful Carnival Miracle. Given the fact that he is a loyal repeat guest, we’re extremely sorry to hear about the experience he had this time around at the conclusion of his voyage. To clarify, the gift shop staff advises our guests that the purchases are duty free, meaning our guests do not pay tax at time of purchase; but, our guests still have to abide by Homeland Security guidelines for the value of the items which can be brought back into the country. This is not something we control or have jurisdiction over. The gift shop staff gives the guest a Customs form to fill out which has this information stipulated. More information about duty-free allowances can be found on our website. Nevertheless, we genuinely regret any misunderstanding in this regard. Considering the circumstances, we agree that a little courtesy and sensitivity from the agents he met with was called for in this case. Mr. *** feedback is important to us, which is why it’s on its way to the relevant managerial team for their internal review and files.
