Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines BBB Review February 16, 2017

Passenger Complaint: Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines BBB Review February 16, 2017 – “The day before my cruise, I was admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery. While in the ER, my significant other ,who was also supposed to attend the cruise with me, called Royal Caribbean to inform them of our situation. We were told by customer service representative, *****, that there was nothing that could be done until the ship had left the following morning and we were marked as “no show”. Three days after the surgery, when I was at my family home recovering, my mother called and spoke with customer service representative, ********, concerning our cruise. She told my mother that since we had a Dr note and that it was a medical emergency, full credit for the money paid towards our cruise would not be a problem. I then received a call from ******** a week after the call with my mother to inform me that they would not be crediting me and my significant other for the money paid on the cruise. They only offered 50% off the base fare of another cruise. So in order to get back the money paid on the cruise initially, my significant other and myself would have to spend twice as much money on the next cruise and overall. I am a registered nurse who is out of work for the next month due to the inability to do physical labor in my current condition. I have major medical bills due to the emergency surgery and hospital admission. I am appalled by how cold and inconsiderate Royal Caribbean has been with this situation. I am even a member of their loyalty club, Crown and Anchor Society, from a birthday cruise I did with them a few years prior. I cannot believe how poorly they are handling this situation. It really breaks my heart.”
